How to Control your Alcohol intake DTXIFY

I want to control my drinking, what are the treatment options?

Not everyone wants to be sober or live an alcohol-free life. But many people struggle to stop their drinking when they start. Often they are called binge drinkers.

So what are the treatment options for somebody that wants some support around their alcohol use, but doesn’t want to stop?

The first step is to get a FREE 15 minute consultation appointment. Contact us here to arrange.

Treatment options include psychosocial interventions (therapy) and possibly prescribing Naltrexone to help you reduce the frequency and amount that you drink.

Naltrexone works by reducing the amount of Dopamine (the chemical neurotransmitter in the brain that makes you feel good to encourage you to repeat behaviours) released when you drink. You take a Naltrexone tablet one hour before drinking and when you drink you’ll notice a difference in how good you feel.

Using Naltrexone for people that use alcohol is recommended by the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE). NICE is a body that provides clinical guidelines and quality standards. We are proud to say at DTXIFY that we surpass the minimum standards set out by NICE.
