Help! I am Alcohol Dependent but have an allergy to Librium (Chlordiazepoxide)
Allergies to certain mediations are a serious business. According to Allergy UK an allergy is:
“An allergy is the response of the body’s immune system to normally harmless substances, such as pollens, foods, and house dust mites. Whilst in most people these substances (allergens) pose no problem, in allergic individuals their immune system identifies them as a ‘threat’ and produces an inappropriate response.

This can be relatively minor, such as localised itching, but in more severe cases it causes anaphylaxis, a condition which can lead to upper respiratory obstruction and collapse and can be fatal.” (Allergy UK, 2025)
If you’ve found yourself having an allergic relation after taking Librium (Chlordiazepoxide), we can use a different benzodiazepine such as Diazepam because they have a slightly different chemical structure:

In this case to have a home detox with DTXIFY you would need to have had Diazepam previously, without a reaction. This could be from your GP or during a hospital admission.
To arrange a home alcohol detox with any allergies please contact us, informing us of your allergy.
In addition to a home alcohol detox, you’ll also get the most comprehensive Aftercare and then Recovery programme on the market.
